How to Use Email to SMS

Before you can use emailtoSMS.net you must make sure you have the following:

1. A registered account at www.voodooSMS.com

2. Credits in you account (every Trial account receives 25 free Credits)

3. You must have added the email addressess that will be using EmailtoSMS.net to your account here

Once you have done this - using ANY email client such as

What does it cost?

A text message is 160 characters (including spaces). Each message sent uses 1 SMS Credit. When registering a trial account with VoodooSMS, you receive 25 free credits to test the facility which is enough for 25 Email to SMS Messages!

Topping up credits can cost anything between 1.9p and 2.9p per credit depending on how many credit you purchase at a time. All prices are exclusive of VAT.

What is the Sender ID?

The Sender ID is who the text message appears from on the mobile phone. There is a limit of 11 characters (including spaces) and only A-Z 0-9 can be used.

Can I see Delivery Reports on messages I've sent?

Yes, you have full access to detailed reports within your VoodooSMS account. Login to the portal and click 'Messages'. Here you can see a list of Email to SMS messages sent, or filter for a particular message.

Can I increase the Message or Sender ID size?

Unfortunately not. The Sender ID of 11 characters is a global SMS limitation. No system can allow more than 11 characters.

The Message is limited to 160 characters which is the size of 1 text message. We plan to allow you to use multiple credits to send a long message but this is not yet available so messages should be kept within the 160 character length.

My message didn't send?

If your message was rejected by the EmailtoSMS.net server, you will have received an email informing you with the reasons why. This could be for one of the following reasons:

Not enough credits in your VoodooSMS account
Your email isn't registered at VoodooSMS, or you do not have an account
Your Sender ID was too long
Your Message was too long
You didn't format the number or email you were sending to correctly. Numbers must be formatted in the country code then number format (e.g. 447767123123@emailtosms.net)
You are trying to send to a non UK mobile number. Currently, we only support UK numbers.

Can I send messages to any mobile number?

At the moment we only support UK mobile numbers in the following format : 447767123123@emailtosms.net

How are credits used?

For each SMS sent a single credit is used. If you send an email to multiple mobile numbers, then a credit is used for each one. For example if you send an email to "447767123123@emailtosms.net, 447767111111@emailtosms.net, 447767222222@emailtosms.net", then 3 SMS messages are sent (1 to each number) and 3 Credits will be deducted from your balance at VoodooSMS.
